James the OPC Handler for Windows 95/98/NT. With James you can link different OPC servers. James has included its own Webserver that allows you to configue it from any location. James is capable of handling up to 64K links between different OPC servers.

Download demo version of James now: james.zip (fully functional demo with a maximum of 4 links between different OPC servers, version: 0.09.0009, release date: 2001-12-27, size: 1.36MB).

Installation. If you are installing James the first time, please use the INSTALL.INF for installation. Right click INSTALL.INF and choose "Install". After a possible reboot, choose via the menu "Start" to run James. The setup will continue once James is started.

Windows 95 A. If you are using Windows 95 A, James will need the Windows 95 Update 1, the DCOM 1.3 Update and the WinSock2 Update. If you have problems running DCOM with Windows 95 then try to install the IPX/SPX compatible protocol. Hopefully, this should eliminate all problems - this is a limitation of Windows 95. On Windows 95, it is not possible to start an OPC server remotely.

Windows 95 B. Within Windows 95 B (OSR2), you will have to install first the DCOM 1.3 Update and the WinSock2 Update. If you have problems running the DCOM with Windows 95, try to install the IPX/SPX compatible protocol. Hopefully, this should eliminate all problems - this is a limitation of Windows 95. On Windows 95, it is not possible to start an OPC server remotely.

Windows 98. Windows 98 requires installation of the DCOM 1.3 Update. On Windows 98, it is not possible to start an OPC server remotely.

Windows NT. When using Windows NT 4.0 you need at least Service Pack 5.

You can obtain the various updates for Windows operating systems from the Microsoft homepage.

Netscape. If you are using James with Netscape, you must be using at least Netscape 4.5 or higher. Clear both the Disk and Memory Cache, and set them to 0 kBytes (this issue is resolved in the most recent, fully licenced version).

Internet Explorer. If you are accessing James with Internet Explorer, you must use Version 4 or higher.
